Went to the track for the first time with my D16 del Sol...
Yeah, so I took my 95 del Sol Si to the track for the first time, which coincidentally, was also my first time running at the track. Nonetheless, I think I did pretty well, especially since most people there were under the impression that I was running another engine in the car, I guess they thought I was running some really good times, I have no clue. The highlight was beating an RSX-S off the line (he obviously botched the launch) and then just barely edging him out. Sloppy, ugly win, but I'll take it. (I'm hoping no one takes that too seriously, I realize I got lucky). Anyways, the car is all stock, with 97k on the odometer and some really, really bad all season tires (Fate O tires...how the Honda dealership got these from Argentina is beyond me). Here is the best time I got:
R/T: 1.531
60': 2.462
330: 6.951
1/8: 10.627
MPH: 66.46
1000: 13.837
1/4: 16.544
MPH: 83.51
The reason I am posting this is that I am sure some of you can look at this and tell me how I stack up to other stock D16 drivers (I'm at sea level in FL, I know that's a factor) and hopefully someone can tell me if I need to improve a lot in a certain area. I did run 7 times though and couldn't manage to get anything better than the above time, just above it every time.

don't listen to him. R/t doesn't have anything to do with your 1/4 time.

I know that. I went to the track not worrying about it at all. Mainly due to the fact that when I tried to get a good R/T...I ended up botching my launch. It's not bracket racing, so a R/T doesn't matter.
But yeah, I got my reaction time down to .7xx by the end of the night on later runs...

And your point is...I'm a poor driver? The hatch you were driving probably weighed a good 200-300 lb. less, plus, a CAI helps too. Maybe I'm taking your comment the wrong way, sorry if I am.
Anyways, I looked up the specs and most places list the del Sol Si in 1995 being capable of a 16.6 in the quarter mile...so I think that the fact that I got a 16.5 with shitty tires says something about my driving skills. Maybe I'm wrong here...

Re: (explosive)
keep working at it. faster times are possible with more practice. i ran a 16.1 when my car was completely stock (coupe) with horrible 60' times. don't get too excited with people thinking you have a different motor in the car. it just means they are _that_ bad. the last time i went to the strip i had a guy thinking i was on the bottle because i ran a 16.0 (car not stock, but traction issues really held me back. ever seen a mildly modified d16z in a coupe put 30ft of rubber down in second and chirp 3rd?) against his 17.5. i just told him, nah, no juice, i just suck. i should be runnin 15.5's.

Yeah, you have a point there. Once again though, I believe that the coupe still weighs a bit less than the del Sol, as hard as that is to believe. I think I could have done better, but you know that traction is important and with the crappy tires that I have on the car now (which are about completely destroyed after my time at the track) I am not getting much traction at all. In fact, one time I shifted to second and just started spinning till 6k when it finally hooked up.

Re: (explosive)
When me and my buddy 1st got our cars we went to Pomona.
He owns a 95 del sol Si ( it was stock and still sohc vtec d16z6)
And me in a 93 dx coupe (d15b7)
He pulled off a 15.9, I pulled off 16.2's and one 16.1
Perhaps is motor was a little cherry, but I think you can break the 15.9 mark also.

15.9 could happen, but I doubt it would with my car. For one, I have crappy tires, so the best 60' I could manage was a 2.3xx on a couple runs. Even more, I was racing in 90+ degree weather.
The time I posted above, I got a good launch, shifted perfectly and barked second. That tells me that there really isn't much room for improvement, especially since I just couldn't get anything better in 6 more runs. The gas tank was nearly empty and I did no stripping of the interior, so weight reduction was a minimum. I think the really high temperature had a lot to do with things, and yeah, I need to work on my driving a little, but 15.9? Not gonna happen with my engine and the conditions I was running in.
Anyways, it doesn't really matter to me that much since I am going to be tossing the current engine in favor of an JDM H22a when I can come up with the last part of the money that I need to do the swap.
