My trip to the track(1/4) in the sol!
Twas pretty cool
Del Sol VTEC, only mod is an AEM cold air
track was slippery as heck
and to add to that, I was on "GRAND SPIRIT" all seasons(I too have never ever heard of these, but hey, they were free) and people had driven to the line with mud on their tires, and worked it into the line
Plus: It was about 3 degrees celcius the whole day
needless to say, I got my worst 60 foot times ever, with my best being a 2.38, but averaging at 2.42(my best 60 foot times, even on these tires, on another day, ranged from 2.20, to 2.24)
Regardless, I ran a best of 14.82@93.7mph!
Needless to say, I am content, factor in traction, and good tires(more traction), I figure I can get my 60 foot down to where it should be, which should put me on par for a 14.5-14.6
:D

Re: My trip to the track(1/4) in the sol! (50percentRice)
why am I not surprised by the haters
haha
ah well
I expected as much
what can I tell you guys
I dont have a scanner
but my buddy does
so I will bring him one by
mind you
its not like seeing a slip will convince those that wish to hate
My total list of mods
1996 del sol si (del sol vtec motor swapped in)
aem cold air intake (3" not the lousy 2.5")
kosei k1 15" rims
GRAND SPIRIT 205/50/15's
Stock del sol si exhaust(yes, its quite a restriction)
runs were done with and without the muffler, and it made no difference at all
i shift at 8300rpms, right before limiter
I dont know what else to tell you
other than i have a strong motor
really though
i appreciate the flames, and the accusations of lies
thanks for all the love guys
anyone that lives in toronto thats seen my car will tell you its quick
ask Boosted, non-vtec, tiny, mrsmith, tony the tiger, kungfusir
they can all attest to my quickness and timeslips
why would I bother lying abut my slips?

by the way
the runs were done at ST Thomas Dragway Park in Sparta Ontario
This is an NHRA certified track
so yes
it is a full 1/4 mile

very good driving!
its harder to race them b16's too
with aem and tires i pulled type R times.
ain't hard with a 2.2 60' or better.
shifting before the limiter is nice too to keep up the revs
sucks cause everyone can get a faster time, if they didn't spin so much on the shifts.

No flames here. Congrats on your time slips. If I were you I would invest in some slicks that way you aren't killing your street tires and at the same time... traction issues should just about dissapear. Do you plan on doing any other mods in the near future?

i definately plan on more mods
and exhaust would be nice

as for the tires, well, they were free, so i am keeping them for now, until someone can et me a good deal on K/D's

Re: My trip to the track(1/4) in the sol! (gsrhatch530)
Those are very good times. Seems like you got lucky, and have a really strong motor. Plus there had to be some good driving in that combination too. I believe your times because when I had my 00 Civic Si, I ran 15.217@88.76mph at Atlanta Dragway with only an AEM cai and Skunkworks coilovers. So I'm sure a del Sol can run your times since it's a couple hundred lbs. lighter. Good luck getting those times down.. I think some drag radials and a header and exhaust will help a lot.
