Went over a speed bump and hurt my car :(
So today, i just realized that my neighborhood has new, higher speed bumps. I didn't think much of it when I went over it and heard a loud noise coming from under the car on the passengers side. I thought I just scraped it but I went under the car to take a look and I saw this:
It's under the passengers side seat under the car. Kinda looks like it's a jacking point. I hope I didn't get the frame or anything. The car seems to be driving just fine, as well as the alignment. Is it something I should be concerned about? I hope it didn't get my exhaust pipe... I didn't really look but it sounds just fine. Nice and quiet :D

Thanks! I'm just kinda mad at myself and whoever put that new speed bump on the road. Everyone in my neighborhood drives an SUV except me and my dad. He's got a 98 Civic CX hatch while I have a 98 Civic HX coupe. Both are not very common models haha. But they were obviously not thinking of small car owners with that speed bump. Even if I take it going 1 mph, it will still scrape the bottom of the car. And my car isn't lowered!! :O

You're just fine. Really the only damage is you cracked the coating...
Those are my car are ground flat and bare metal.
Also, those aren't the jacking points. The jack points are the pinch welds right behind the front wheels, and in front of the rears.
You can see scrapes on the mid pipe but nothing really to worry about unless this happens to you.
also, you can kind of see what I mean about flat and show metal on the far ones.

Wow... What happened there? lol. So if those aren't jacking points, and if they're not affecting anything with it dented like that, then what are they even used for?

The angle of the drive way is kind of steep, and the garage is flat. I caught it in just the right place and It grabbed the hanger and tore it into that postion you see. That's the mid pipe.
Luckily I was able to heat it up and bend it back to where I could put a new rubber hanger on it.
It's most likely something structural. I honestly have no clue what they are, or what they do. So I can only assume.

Those are the unit-body frame rails. They keep your car from looking like a banana. Think of them as the spine of the car, probably the most important structural part on the entire vehicle.
