Default well..why do i have 2 MAP sensors?...

Highrev1987 said to run only 1... but im just wondering why do i have 2? lol i also come to think this is the reason why my car throws a CODE 5 for the MAP sensor they BOTH seem to be wired up..

the one on the firewall reads
"Nipendenso 5V MAP Sensor Tennessee"

the one on top of the throttle body reads
"Nipendenso 5V MAP Sensor Japan"

but they both look like they are wired up and have 3 wires run into each of them sheww i just dunno what to do about this.. if anyones got anything please.. help me out.

the motor in your car before the swap had a firewall mounted map, use the one on the TB . you can remove the other one

well the thing is... how do i know what to remove i mean.. they both have vacuum going to them... i dont understand.. so just unclip it. take it off and let the clip with wires hang in there.. what would i do with the vacumm and stuff coming off of it or going to it? im not really a good mechanic i dont understand much im such a green horn its crazy im bout afraid to just "take it off"...

well the first thing to do is yea just take the one on the firewall off and some how plug or do away with the vaccum then as far as the plug goes you need to verify which one is really pluged in so if you tell me what ecu you got I can look up a wiring diagram and walk you through it by the time we get done not only will your chk eng light go off but your car should run alot better as hondas use map sensor data to determine amount of air and when it is malfuntioning, the computer has no idea how much fuel to spray. so it just sprays.

find the wire that goes to the ecu than hook it to the map on the throttle body.

It will run very rich until you solve this as it does not know how much to add (emergencymode) . My 92 hatch had the fire wall map but my engine has the throttle body. The problem that comes into play is that the firewall connection is the only one wired to the ecu. So use the firewall cord plugged into the throttlebody map. The connection for the map on the engin harness will not get you signal to the ecu, so just tape it back or you can remove it. The map sensor that was on your firewall can be just removed. Hope this helps. Also it doesnt hurt to do an ecu reset after.

so what ur saying is... just unplug the wires going to the MAP sensor on the firewall.. and take the plug off my throttle body mounted one and SWITCH EM...right? and leave the firewall mounted one.. unplugged right?

Yeah basically the firewall map can be completely removed from the car. The only thing to plug in is the firewall wire to throttle map. This should double your gas milage once fixed.

Follow the lines back to their origin points on the intake manifold and plug them there. Done deal.

Sorry man cant IM yet as trial user. Just went out to look at mine and there are no vacuum lines to the map sensor, I believe those lines are only to get air charge from an older throttle body that used the firewall map sensor. If you want to see what how a firewall map/throttlebody looks, there is a diagram on http://www.ff-squad.com on their technet link. The actual firewall map sensor can be unbolted from the bolt by your fuel filter and the vacuum lines will come right with it, no plugging needed.

son im just about to give up on this.. im a lost ball in high weeds.. see THIS is my throttle body on my b16a..just like in the pic..the only line running to my throttle body is for the CHARCOAL CANNISTER nothing else..

and see...this throttle body looks COMEPLETEY different it has a charcoal canister line PLUS a line for the MAP sensor.. i dont get it.. and its prolly just some STUPID reason why im so eat up with the dumbass.

gosh i know u all are prolyl sittin there thinking WHAT AN IDIOT but i didnt do this swap myself i bought it like this and id say the reason i got the car so cheap is cause of this problem he couldnt get it to run right.. and he got tired of fooling with it. im just afraid of gettin TO FAR into this and taking stuff off and it just NOT running right from now on out.

ok in this you will see manifold abosulote pressure just use the wiring color code to help figure out where it is out on ecu it shows the d plug so thats not the biggest one and not the smallest one the the last one at the endd that is medium. once you verify you got that right wires the use your multimeter to do a continuity test between sensor and comp plug you shouldnt have more than .1 or .01 one or the other across the wire any more than that is excessive resistance. then just ohm out the 3 wires and make sure the other one dosent have continuity then plug up vaccum line any way possible. any questions just pm me

Sorry David, I ran out of posts yesterday. The pics I linked you to were just to show that the vacuum lines are not needed.
1.Take the map wire from the bottom picture.
2.Plug into map sensor on top picture.
3. Remove sensor not used on fire wall, vacuum lines with it(if the vacuum lines are running any where else beside this it needs to be plugged).
4.Remove 7.5 amp fuse in under hood fuse box by the battery for 10 second to reset ecu.
5.Tape back extra plug from engine harness for that clean look.
6.Enjoy your new found gas milage.
