Default weird squeal...

d16y7 under load in 3rd and sometimes 4th in lower rpm's will make a weird screech/squeal for a second and go away... it wont do it when the car is not under load.

i think it might be the alternator bearing, but im not positive and since it wont do it just revving i cant really put my finger on it.

its definitely coming from the left side.

could it be anything else?

It sounds to me like a belt of some sort is slipping. You may want to start your trial and error with those

does the car have power steering, or perhaps A/C. I've never known bearings to squeel when under load, it's usually a squeek when at idle

no power steering, has a/c...

i thought it might do with a/c as well...
car doesnt make noise when defrost is on or flow blown a/c either...

think it would still do it without a/c engaged?

ROK801, have you figured out what was causing the squealing? I think I may have the same problem. I had it on my b16a and recently dropped a b18c in but the problem is still there, not as loud though. All the belts are new, is it slipping? I do not know.. every time I go to a shop and ask for them to check it, it's one of those noises where you (the driver) know it's there, but no one else seems to notice it. I was told that it could be a leak in the exhaust somewhere. I'm not sure.

It only happens once in a while.. not bothering me too much yet, but it would be nice to know where it's from. the tranny shifts great. it sounds like the intake sucking air in, but it's not. it only happens when the car is under load, when i punch it. When I rev freely, the sound doesn't come out.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Cyrus

I had that problem a while back... it drove me crazy. Started with occasional squealing then got worse over a few weeks. Had no idea where the sounds was coming from until I did my dizzy cap change... saw that the rotor was rusted to **** and the friction was causing the noise. Check your distributor...
