whats up everyone. i have a 97 ex coupe d16y8. i just turbod it this summer. anyway i got a new oil pump oem honda and ported and shimmed it. ever since i installed it i've been leaking oil from what seems to be the crank. it seems like its leaking from between the pump and the block. could i be missing a seal or soemthing??

and now heres the weird part. i drive 2 hours from college to home. and if i'm driving at 80mph at almost 4k rpms..i'll lose almost a quart in that time. but if i'm goin like 60 at 3k i will lose barely any.

i want to fix it but i'm not even sure what to do.. so what do u all think?

because your oil pressure increases with higher speeds/rpms. lower rpm = lower oil pressure, so it looses oil at a slower rate.
idk about your leak situation though. bump for you though

its your front main seal. mine leaks to. i mistaked i for the oil pan gasket leaking and it wasn't it. there is a weep hole that allows oil to drip from behind the crank when it leaks

yea that sounds exactly like my problem, i dropped my pan b/c i thought it was the gasket that was pinched. but i was pissed when i found out it wasn't.

can it be fixed?

sure can. replace it(only way to fix it). check auto or advance. they should have it for ya.

so replace the front main seal? do u have any diagrams of it?

is it just a black circle? and will i need to take off the oil pump or no?

its just a black circle. you wont have to mess with the oil pump. just take off your acc. belts, take off the lower cover, pully, and your T-belt. i dont remember the exact way but its close to this. its basicly behind the crank pully. i only have info or getting the seal out but not the whole procedure. just use a small screw driver to pry out the seal
