Selling a Dead 99 Civic Si
My 1999 Honda Civic Si's engine died a couple months ago, mechanic told me it was misfiring on all cylinders and needed a new engine. I bought a motorcycle and althought I really loved that car, I think it's time to sell it so someone can get some use out of it.
My question is, how much is it worth?
I've gotten several offers and I wasent even interested in selling, so i know there is a ton of demand.
Just for a better picture, its a 99 civic Si with:
16" gunmetal rims
yokohama es100 tires (fairly new)
comptech cold air box
skunk2 muffler
front and rear sway bars
lowered on springs/struts, forgot what kind
and some other stuff

Re: Selling a Dead 99 Civic Si
I'd keep the car since they are becoming rarer nowadays. You never know, the engine could be simple fix or not...Maybe the car needs a tune up?
For a running 1999-2000 Civic SI, people still sell them for about 8-10K from where I live...other places, maybe less. It all depends on the seller and the condition of the car but generally, they still go for high prices if they are in good condition.
But if your motor is really toast, you can most likely sell the car for 3-5K.

lol, wow, i guess this was the place to ask.
The car is located in southern california, orange county.
only real flaws with the car are a small dent on the upper left on the trunk (see pics) and a oil leak (i think from the oil pan gasket) other then that it looks great and until a couple months ago ran amazing. I'm not a mechanic myself so don't know if the engine is salvageable and to be honest if i could fix it myself I would keep it. Right now its not totally dead, it fires up just fine but moves like garbage and sounds really clunky.
If anyone is really interested just send me a message and make an offer.
I got a ton of extra parts i would throw in that of course i wouldnt need anymore like black housing headlights, old springs, other old parts. The stereo is pretty nice too.
anyway, here are some more pictures:
have Merry Christmas guys.

Nice looking Civic. Makes me miss my old silver one. She was a good car. Chased Mustang 5.0s around all day. I did a little modding though.
You could drop a new DOHC in there for around 1000.$
So factor that into the selling angle.

I'd say keep it. If the engine still runs, try doing a simple tune up with new plugs and wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter etc...Your timing belt could've jumped a tooth or two causing it to run crappy, that's what happened to mine and it ran really bad and felt weak.
G/L on what you decide to do with it though.

mmm, if i was u i would run a compression and leakdown test to somewhat check the health of the internals. Then move from there.

keep it. looks clean and they are getting rare nowadays. whats a b16 longblock cost? less than $1000. even if just needs valves or something simple, fix it and keep it.

Theres a ton of odds and ends off that car that wou can make more money off of plus any of the aftermarket and extra parts you have.. I wrecked my si a while back and have been parting it out this past month. I didnt include my engine, wheels, suspension engine harness, front end, tail lights, head lights and I just trasfered 2300 out of my paypal and still have a bunch of **** left to sell
it takes time to sell al that **** and you have to watch the wtb threads and make a post but in the end you'll make WAYYY more than 3k.. if you sell it outright I wouldnt sell it for under 5k

Re: Selling a Dead 99 Civic Si
Thanks for all the input guys.
To be honest, I don't have the skill to fix it, don't really want to spend the time and effort to make it work, won't have money available any time soon for repairs or insurance (my motorcycle insurance is $150 a year), and I can't imagine myself driving a car anymore I love my motorcycle, and plan on getting another backup bike.
so for whatever it's worth, my loss, whoevers gain, it's a great car and i'll miss her, if anyone wants to make a real offer, it's all gravy, otherwise i'm gonna throw it up on autotrader.
