Weird Gas Incident, Should i get it checked?
Ok guys so today i had to take a nice little trip after work down to savage mn, if anyone knows where that is. Once i got there i filled up my gas tank "about 6 gallons roughly" then drove to this shop to get a few things. Stayed there b.s-ing and whatever for about an hour plus. Then drove home which is about a 30-40 mile ride. Once i got home i was sitting in the civic toying with some things on my stereo when i started to smell gas. I look back and near my rear tire low and behold is gas just leaking it seemed. I opened the gas tank latch and started to screw off the cap and gas started to gush out.
Once it stopped i screwed the cap back on and power hosed to clean the area. It didnt seem to be leaking at that point anymore. So i drove it around the block and it felt like it always did. Basically my question is has anything like this happened to anyone, do you think it was a one time occurance, especially since it was hot out like upper 80's low 90's. Also is it normal that when you remove the gas cap it seems like a lot of pressure is released from the tank? Any feedback is appreciated.

It almost sounds like the system pressured itself off the fuel return line based on what you said. I would just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't happen again.
