Weird clutch pedal feel
My clutch pedal is stiff when the car is off, but when you slip it say to back out of a driveway, it feels really soft and vibrates. Is it a sign my clutch or my master cylinder is going out?
Is this normal tooor should the rod be attached and therefore not movable??
please help someone must know about this!

woah, you are hard to understand man, maybe someone would reply if you re-worded/re-thought out your question.
the rod just sits in the boot, there is a piston that pushes on the rod. if when you push on the clutch the slave doesn't move or if it doesn't move all the way, then its not working properly, if it moves all the way in and out it is working. the master cylinder would likely be leaking if it were going out so you can look for brake fluid on your firewall, also it would be low in the reservoir. the fact that you said something about vibrating makes me think it could be your clutch/pressure plate. basically you didn't give enough information for anyone to know what's going on.

Re: Weird clutch pedal feel (deathplaza)
Thank you for the above response^^^^
What is going is that when the car is off, the clutch pedal pressure is stiff, as normal. When the car is on, the pedal gets softer and gears are hard to shift. Also, when slipping the clutch, you can feel it vibrating. Master cylinder has no leaks, as for the slave cylinder. The reservoir is topped off at the recomended level. Anymore info that may be needed, please ask. Thank you!

Re: Weird clutch pedal feel (DeadEnd9009)
not sure what you mean by "slipping the clutch" i assume maybe when you let out the clutch to engage it?, if that is so the clutch and pressure plate is likely wearing out. you should try bleeding your clutch system just to be sure seeing as that only takes 10 minutes with some help. basically, if your clutch master/slave cylinders are ok, and your system is bled. There is no way for the clutch pedal to seem softer (in my experience), i can imagine a worn out pressure plate could cause this feeling, but again i've never felt it before myself. i have driven a car with a bad clutch that vibrated the car hard because it wouldn't grab the flywheel hard.

Re: Weird clutch pedal feel (deathplaza)
yes i bled and flushed the system, which is what i first thought it was. Then it is the pressure plate and clutch, as i thought it would be. Thanks for the help
