A spate of VX threads recently.

Main difference is the D15Z1 VTEC-E engine for better mileage and power...but still not much power. VX also has lightweight alloy wheels. Other differences are minor.

i have a 92 vx hatch.. it is h22 swapped but i think yours (CX) has a One wire o2 sensor and my vx Originally had a 5 wire oxygen sensor which i think was for vtec-e (economic vtec, Only found in VX) The CX also has a non vtec engine.

Thats the only differences i know of mechanically..visually they look the exact same to me.

The VX does not have an 8 valve cylinder head. It employs VTEC in a different sense that is used for efficiency and has 16 valves, 4 per cylinder. D15Z1.

In the CX you can do ~80mph in the top of second gear. Long gears, lol.

Does anyone know if power steering was an option on the VX? or did they all come with no power steering?

I've been working on and off on a list of differences, but I like to confirm everything over and over again through Honda, plus I work a lot.

For 6th gens at least, The EX and Si trims were fully loaded. Power steering and air conditioning is optional on all cars that don't have it standard.

If some didn't come with it, then it's probably an optional part form the factory.

VX - D15Z1, 16V VTEC-E, 92hp@5500 97ft/lbs@4500, unique combustion chamber design to enhance swirl and increase fuel efficiency.
VX is single stage VTEC (dual stage was in the OBD2 VTi and Vi)
see my reproduction of this page... http://www.b18c5eg.com/VTEC/

CX - D15B8, 8V non-VTEC, 70hp@4500 83ft/lbs@3000, base model

the VX had A/C and PS optional, all though A/C was a lot more common than PS. Both were rare.

VX came with 5-wire O2 (unless 93-95 cali-spec version, then it's the standard 4-wire)
CX has a single wire O2

13" enki 8 spoke cast aluminum rims (HX upgraded to 14")

trans gearing is the same between the CX and VX.

VX has EGR setup, tach, upshift light(some CX's had it), and I'm sure a few other things that I'm forgetting.

The production date of your CX would be more valuable.

I had a shift light in mine also. Production date was early 1995 (Feb or March).
