ok i get all possible searchs avaible for vtec solenoids. i am installing a b18c1 in my friends car. the head didnt come with a vtec solenoid. i found one but its from a SOHC automatic civic. i did search and they said all solenoids are the same wheater sohc or dohc. my question is can i use a 96 automatic SOHC (civic EX) vtec solenoid for the gsr head, will it perform the same?

yes it will, and no there not all the same. I tryed installing one off a 2000 civic ex on a b16 head and it was way different.

but it still worked didnt it?

the pressure plug is located on a diffrent side of the solenoid on the d series ones but they all work.

Yes they are the same.

I have both B series and D series.. both matched up. D series have the oil pressure sensor pointed in a different direction but it will work perfectly..
