Default Vtec head on SOHC question

Ok i have a question on this ****....if...and i mean if i had the chance to throw a vtec head on my sohc...what all would need to be done besides the wiring to the vtec solenoid? I heard some **** from someone about ECU and getting better gaskets? Is this true?

New headgasket.
VTEC solinoid.
Wiring.
ECU that looks for the VTEC Solinoid (i.e. P28)
VTEC head.

Not exactly a plug and play project.

u can also use an rpm activated switch to engage vtec instead of getting another ecu.

That will work, but is pointless, becaues your fuel and ignition curves will be wrong especially when VTEC is on.
