Vtec Problem..
today when i started my car my CEL didnt come on.. normally the car starts up and it idles down after startup to about 1300rpms then the CEL comes on and it idles up to about 1800rpms.. So i started it and noticed the CEL didnt come on and I was like wtf sweeet... So i drove the bastard and vtec started working... holy **** she [freak]ingoes but i came to a stop sign and it was like my throttle was sticking, it would idle at about 3200 rpms then after about 4 seconds it would drop back down to 1200 adn idle fine.. So i got on the interstate and then it started acting up wicked bad, like whenever I hit the gas it would like die out and want to idle at 1200 rpms.. I shut the car off and let it sit for like 2 minutes on the side of the road, started it up and the CEL came back on and it ran fine wihtout vtec.. It will not store a code.. the CEL comes on after 2 seconds of start up ONLY and dis appears and will not come back on when I turn the key for the ECU's precheck.. The only thing that I noticed is where I had to extend my o2 Sensor wires theres some bare wires where the heat shrink didnt cover.. Any ideas?

Re: Vtec Problem.. (98CivB18C)
what car, what motor?
and does vtec normally engage or is there a reason that it doesnt normally engage?
your ecu may be clutter[freak]ed. have you tried a different ecu to see if it will atleast hold a cel?
