Oil pressure
I just had my ls/vtec built and during the break in I noticed my oil pressure readings were a little but higher than they are now that I have changed my oil and ran it hard a couple of times... Im using an Auto meter manual gauge.... Also ran 20-50 castrol gtx during break in and now Im running 20-50 royal purple.... At high rpms the reading is round 75-100 psi and in traffic doing 50mph or so its round 35-50 psi.... So my question is a stock motor what is normal oil pressure and second is my oil pressure high enough?

Re: (mormonboy)
Well the guy who built my motor told me thats what I need to run... Plus I live in florida and thicker oils are better for heat... Come to find out theres a bad tapping from my motor and I spun a bearing... Thats whats causing me to have lower oil pressure. Has anyone had problems with golden eagle cause those are the rods I have along with their vtec conversion kit......

20-50 is horrible for these engines unless you're constantly on the track beating on the car. Oil that thick is harder for it to go into the bearings because of small clearances. The 20-50 could have possibly caused the spun bearing. I don't think it caused it but there is always a small chance that the oil caused it. Most likely the engine was poorly built + wrong oil which caused a spun bearing. 20-50 is meant for bigger engines. I live in Florida too and I've had no problem with 5-30. 20-50 would also kill gas mileage.
I would seriously go back to this guy and tell him what's up. Why the hell would he recommend such oil?

Your oil pressure is right on the mark for the oil weight you're using.
You're not using the right oil weight. That's way too viscous.
Use 10w30, and you should be peachy. I'd drop that **** out ASAP - that's way too heavy for that engine, though it's not cold and you don't have to worry about the oil too thick to start, it's putting the engine under unnecessary stress and if it means anything to you, you're getting less mpg and less hp, with no additional lubrication.
