VTec pressure switch missing on JDM B16
ok iv never seen this before but the spot where the Vtec pressure sensor should go is capped off i know i can get another solinoid i have two layin around, but am just curious as to how it works, im guessing it runs off blocks oil pressure sensor and the JDM ecu reads it from there but someone who knows let me know how it works?

Re: VTec pressure switch missing on JDM B16 (duefuss)
I just ordered a JDM B16 SiR II swap from hmotorsonline.com and I noticed this as well when I got it so I called them up and I guess all 95 and up models didn't use a vtec pressure sensor, as long as you are running the right ECU for that B16, you wont have a problem because it doesn't look for the sensor. Not really sure if it reads off block pressure or not but as long as it kicks in then

Re: VTec pressure switch missing on JDM B16 (97_coupe)
that sounds right this motor has (im guessin) 30,000 miles on it due to the fact that it still had hone scratches in the cylinder walls. but im running a USDM ecu, its a p75 chipped for vtec but i should beable by pass the oil pressure when i reburn my map. but thanks

if for whatever reason the new map doesnt work properly you can always try the bypass trick

as long as your using a jdm ecu.. then it wont look for the pressure switch. if your using a usdm ecu with a jdm motor then you can either 1: use the vtec oil pressure switch from another usdm vtec motor or 2: http://www.phearable.net/tech/...s.gif

When I called Hmotorsonline, they told me that they did but for whatever reason Honda decided to discontinue them starting with 95 and up. But he couldn't tell me why they did.

My '90 jdm B16 and my '93 jdm B16 both came with pressure sensors so you just learned something new
As far as they pressure sensor question goes:
I bet that since the years are a little off from Japan to here depending on what and where you see/read (like the 'EF CRX being called a '92 in adds and such..I've seen it alot) then that would possibly explain why '95 is the year change for no more pressure sensors being that it was the "pre" OBD2 year for all Hondas. it's very common for the last year model of a car to have some "pre" features of the next model to come. The same reason you'll see alot of 94-95 cars with OBD 2 connectors even though the car was still obd 1
..Sorry if I made this sound confusing

Eh not really......
Rear disc=Better braking performance
vtec pressure switch=??????
I guess it was just a sensor they felt they didn't need any longer. It was probably more of a dummy sensor to help the people who cant check their oil

I thonk you only got rear disk on the ex's if you had abs, non abs models had rear drums

True.
Yeah someone on the assembly line was like
"Hey we've got all these rear disc set-ups let's just toss them on random cars until we use the rest of them..."
lol...
