Icon2 vtec issue

Hey there everyone. I have a d16y8 N/A with a p28 chipped with a base tune just swapped out the old factory injectors for RDX 410cc. The car has a bit of a floating idle now but drives fine up to 4700 rpm (witch is where i have the vtec set to kick in) at that RPM it seems to "fuel cut" and vtec will not engage. I think i know the answer already "Get a retune" I just want conformation. Kinda thought that with the base tune it would work just fine.

Should've just left the VTEC crossover point where it was. It doesn't add any more power sooner because you want it to activate sooner. It's not any kind of turbo boost function you know. And unless you plan on bosting later I don't know what the need for such large injectors on a D-series is supposed to accomplish.

well you have already figured out the answer to the question before asking it. a "base tune" is well... just that. with larger injectors over stock paired with the base tune your ECU is only sending signals for a stock perfectly healthy y8 engine, yours however, isn't stock and having the larger injectors would most likely cause too little or too much gas being fed in regardless of where your VTEC is set to kick in at. As grumblemarc mentioned, there's no point in altering the crossover point since it's no extra power adder and bigger injectors w/o any serious power additions are basically for cool points

totally understand that! It is where the tuner for the base tune set it and was given as information only. i have larger injectors because of the cam, valves and other upgrades I've done. boost will be later but i still have to drive it once in a while. its a slow build. i dont have $$$$ coming out my A## like some people. my House and family take priority.

So....why not leave it stock as you gather parts up? Put all the parts on when you have enough of them together to actually make something work.

410cc injectors made for a 2.3L variable vane turbo engine from a 3900LB+ SUV are now feeding (at an unknown rate) a 1.6L NA engine that is driving a civic. The question is "why does my car run funny?". Then you follow it up with a state-of-affairs on your financial situation like its pertinent info. Cmon bro.
