vtec head or not. also need help w/ turbo build
alright , i have a 96' civic CX. 117,000 miles
i have a couple questions .
-i want to go turbo eventually. i want it remain reliable. my goal is 180hp-220hp on a T3 turbo. should i build the motor or not.
- next should i get the vtec head or not. if so the z6 or y8 head. for the build i only eant to do rods and pistons, possibly resleaved if i have the money.
mainly going for reliability not speed. please help thanx.

For your horsepower goal I'll say get a y8 head. Mini me and turbo should get you to your horsepower goal with no problem. It's all in the tune. But if you are planning to build it with piston and rod then get a bigger turbo like the t3/t4 57 trim. Just an idea for you to think about.

throw a y8 head on there, boost it and you could easily reach your goal. but id recommend you buy a whole y8 motor, build it (valves/springs/retainers/rods/pistons/cam),
and then turbo it. you could see a reliable 300whp with the right setup.
btw i doubt you'll hit 12's with 220whp.
