At what rpm does the vtec kick in for the 96 civic EX?

if you have intake, you can probbaly can hear it. Before i had a turbo, i could hear a weird "f" sound till i hit 4800 rpms, thats when it kicked in for mine i believe.

Its more like 5600, but whys it matter. My girl has an ex and (i\e) and i was actually suprised on how good you could hear the vtec changeover. 5600

don't listen to any of these guys, they don't know what they're talking about. Everybody knows that vtec kicks in at 11000.

My friend , who just sold his EG coupe(EX), had something really wierd, he had just short ram intake and 2.25" exhaust, and for some reason it came on at 3500.

Any reason why this would happen?

It's 5500rpm and does your friend have a chipped ECU or some kind of Vtec controller?
