Which viscosity Motul 300v to use?
Here is my dilemma... I have a mostly stock GSR motor and had my head refurbished in the process of building my car this past winter (valve job, decked head .003", knurled valve guides, oem head gasket, etc.) The block remained stock and has about 140k on it. I think the extra compression has given way to burning some oil in high rpm's. (compression is in spec on the low side and even across all 4 cyl.)
I was planning on running Motul this summer after I ran Mobil1 for a thousand miles or so after the motor was put back together. My question is what viscosity do you guys recommend I use to possibly subdue the burning of oil until I rebuild the bottom end this winter. I really want to avoid having the car apart again until the winter months, because I would really like to be able to enjoy it and participate in some lapping days, autox etc.
The car is not a daily driver and isnt driven in the winter. I was planning on running 5w30 300v oil, but now that Ive noticed that it burns some oil I was thinking about jumping up to a thicker viscosity. Any input/advice is greatly appreciated
