virgin p28 on B16a 4 Breakin???
Alright finally got my B16 back together. forged internals the hole 9 basically. I lowered the compression to 9:1.
my question is will running a virgin p28 be ok for the break in period until it is turbo'd. i dont plan to be beating on it. highest i may shift would prolly be 5k.
2nd question. The ecu is already chipped with uberdata. If i cut the J1 jumper will it set it back to stock ???
Thanks

Do you have the turbo setup already? If so, throw it on and just go tune the car now.
If not, then

if you cut j1 jumper the ecu will run stock program. why don't you add a switch so you can switch it back to stock if you need too.

IMO a stock P28 map will run a B16 leaner than it should be.
I'd burn an Uberdata B16 base map.
It's not difficult to set up. Open base GSR, import P28, -2 across the board high and low for ignition, *95% on high and low fuel and you'll be ok to brake the engine in. But pay attention to it, if you notice pinging at all, reduce the timing even more.
if you cut J1 it will drop back to the P28 maps. And like mentioned, a switch works well for this.

I just don't want to break it in boosted. An all motor breakin will give me a better opprtunity to make sure the engine is running right before i slap the turbo kit on. I do have the kit though.
My tuner said that running a virgin p28 will be better than a stock b16 bin on uberdata, i just wanted to here what you guys thought about it .

I believe a chip ecu with a b16a bin is better. If you want a virgin how about running the stock b16a ecu.

how many of you have experience with the uberdata stock bins? The few "stock" maps ive burned and used didn't exactly run the car as smooth as "stock". I'd feel safer running a p28.. Take a look at stock p28 bins and p30 bins and note the difference in fueling.

Im tuning the car. My point was that a stock ecu WILL start the 1st time GUARENTEED. Uberdata is great ****, i use it on all my cars but it still can be finicky at times. On a setup that was just put together it just adds thing to troubleshoot. Like i said above, ive had "stock" bins that have ran the car different than "stock". To get the car up and running a p28 will be fine.

How much do you care about your engine. If you just want to get it running so you can beat on it do it.
