victor X intake mani and vtec sounds diff? tell me what you think
this winter I pulled my b16 out to do all new stainless brake lines and manual proportion valve. while it was out I did a little wire tuck and cleaned up the engine harness. change some coolant lines to clean things up. new head gasket and head studs in case I go turbo.
Now the main concern. I had a ported b16 intake mani and 72 mm throttle body and 3" cold air. now I change out to the edelbrock victor X manifold same tb and intake had to be shortened 2.5" to make up for the new manifold.
So I can feel the power difference if I rev the motor out before its warm and it doesnt go into vtec. apposed to once it warms up and vtec does make power. That is the way its supposed to be. but the audible change is not there like it was with my old manifold.
what do you think? no worries its do what it should making extra power or there is something else wrong?
I did an oil and filter change. I have always run mobil 1.

Of course its going to sound different, its a newer and bigger chamber, so its obviously going to sound different when you rev the motor.
As for VTEC, when you swap out manifolds, you change the way in which the air passing thru is resonating, therefore you may in fact not be able to hear VTEC kick in as loud as it were before, but since its a B16, you should definatly be able to hear some slight change, and at least feel the extra pull. If not, then your VTEC has been shutoff, either cause of low oil, or a CEL that would cause it to do so

Of course its going to sound different. You should feel a difference in power as well. Depending on your build your way into the overkill world. Either way with the Victor X VTEC crossover needs to be moved, so you might want to hit a dyno and do that.

thanks
thats the type of response I was looking to hear
no cel and oil level has been checked multiple times. I am going to clean the vtec siloid and change the filter. just for precaution.
I understand that it will sound different even changing the lenght of the intake tube.
I was just looking to see if anyone has experience using a larger intake manifold and vtec sounding and feeling differect.
