valve noise normal?
i just recently picked up a 2000 si. when the car is running it seems to have a little valve noise. the valves seem to click a bit. its not terribly loud but you can defently tell the car is running. i am new to the honda world and and just currious is the b16 is a noisy motor and if this is normal. it seems to be the loudest at idle.

a small tick is nothing terrible. it ihem when i get time though ts better to have them looser than tighter...they wont burn valves that way. mine ticks some and i havnt noticed a problem. i will fix them when i get time though just to make sure everything is 100% on. alot of times ppl who turn high rpm will leave them a little bit loose to allow some "flexibility" with rpm's.

the car has 85000 on it. i bought it from a guy who owned the car since it was brand new. it was well cared for. is it normal for b16s to make a little noise? when the ac and cooling fans kick in it gets even louder.

as far as the fans and AC go thats because the engine is working harder to run the pump/electrical stuff. i wouldnt worry about it but when you have a chance and ALOT of time either adjust them yourself or have them adjusted. (took me about 1 hour to adjust all mine last time). like i say a small tick isnt bad just as long as when you drive it seems like it goes away...if it doesnt you can mess up your valves. it doesnt sound major.

ive heard that too...but if anything just take it to a shop to have the valves adjusted...they'll check them over and make any necessary adjustments to them and then you'll be straight

yeah man, my hx makes that noise extremely loud....and all it is, is the 11 year old fuel injectors hard at work....I put some lucas fuel injector cleaner in the tank and it seemed to quiet them down just a tad.....give it a try

Re: (spray_bombed)
Thats just a normal thing, If you have big cams such as skunk2 stage 2's or crowers the noise will be a little bit louder.
