valve guides = bad emssion???
FIrst its a b16a3 in a 94 del sol with 160k miles. Alright after several attempts to pass emissions. I've changed the distrubotr rotor, spark plugs, cap, wires, oil filter, fuel regulator, pcv valves and chamber box, new evap canister, sea foamed the car, even use the guarantee to pass stuff, new cat conveter. retarded and advance the timing and without success I STILL FAILED. Check compression, and it was fine.
SO I've finally taken it to a mechanic who claims that its the valve guides that are worn out. So if hes right hopefully i pass. He said due to the high mileage heat and and stress have worn the guides out causing them to leak. So has anyone had this problem. ALso i know valve guides require taking the head off, but since i'm taking the head off what other things can cause bad emssion??? also who sells good valve guides?
