Default When is a valve job necessary

I have friend that needs to have his head gasket changed out. I told them that I will be getting the head resurfaced, pressure tested, new timing belt, and water pump installed. My question is when should one do a valve job? If the valves do not look burnt and passes the pressure test, all should be fine right?

If the valves are wobbly (worn valve guides, valve will move side to side inside the guide)... you can use a small hole gauge to determine the wear inside the valve guides when the valves are out.

It's always a good thing to get new valve stem seals if you have not changed them before. For the valve guides, just ask your machine shop to check to see if they are loose.
