Urgent question: 94 civic vti, what kind of engine?
Posted this in the wrong forum 10 minutes ago...
I am sorry about the question but I have to decide if I am going to buy this car in a few hours and have not time for research. I tried quickly and cannot find the info right away, so I will have to ask.
There is a 94 civic vti (I am in italy, I don't know if in the US it is called the same), but anyway, the engine is 1.6 with 160hp with about 60000 miles on it (95000 km).
My main reason to buy it would be to turbo charge it to about 260 to 280 hp. I was just wondering which engine is installed in it (b16?) and if it is easy/appropriate to upgrade to turbo for that kind of horse power.
I need to give an answer in a few hours. Thanks a lot guys, I will be around if I do it.

I found a list here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1759078
but I guess I need the vin number (which I don't right now). For what I understand, it is either a D16Z or a B16A, if I only knew the difference between the two!

SOunds like a b16 to me 160 hp you could defnintely boost 280 whp on stock internals on the b16's and yes it should be easy and enough room to do

yeah, I am sure it is the 160hp, I guess I will get it then. Will do a lot of research before buying the parts, it will be fun as you well know. Engine should be in very good conditions the way it is. I am happy!

Hey man, i'm sitting here in Norway, maybe this will help?
The 1.6 in eg's are either a ESi (125 hp), or
VTi (160 hp). VTi's are B16A2, and ESi's are D16Z6.. That's how it works up here

thanks a lot guys, it helps a lot. I would think the b16 is a good engine and the internals on this one should be good, the car has never been ridden hard. I will be hanging out here in the next year or so to learn how to do a very nice job on the turbo install.
