Upgrade ignition coil and distributor to performance brand?
Well, I searched and found next to nothing, perhaps I wasn't searching hard enough on here. Anyway, I'm wanting to know if upgrading the ignition coil and distributor to a performance brand would be of any benefit? I have put in new Iridium spark plugs (for peace of mind I guess) but still have the stock plug wires it seems. Car is stock, though I did rip out the air intake resonator below the filter box and plugged up the part of the air intake upstream of the filter which had that little "arm" thing, just to simply smooth out the air flow a bit more. Also am using Amsoil oil and amsoil tranny fluid too, just for peace of mind. Thanks in advance.

No. Not even remotely. Stick to NGK plug wires, and don't **** with your distributor, coil, ICM, or any other parts unless they are showing signs of failure. If they are, then stick to OEM parts.

You didn't find anything in your searches as there is absolutely no benefit for the car.
Not only is there no benefit for a stock car to receive upgrade ignition components but what you did to your air box actually inhibits air flow and will likely reduce your performance/economy.
There is much you are not aware of when it comes to your car.
The FAQ is a good starting point.
The RULES is also another good spot to read so that you are familiar with how to go about gaining more information without causing offense.

Thanks. Yeah was just a shot in the dark thinking about those components. So as far as the air box thing goes, it makes sense that with less restriction and an now open intake straight to the filter without all that mumbo jumbo interfering, right?

It's much, much, MUCH more complex than that. Suffice to say that you aren't an engineer with specialist knowledge of fluid dynamics, nor do you have the knowledge of how each system is interconnected, and just shouldn't fiddle with it.

Then I suppose the slight increase in highway speed acceleration is placebo?
