Updated Dyno w/my b18c1 hatch - J's Chip and Skunk2/Mugen Chip
Gained back my midrange power by setting the vtec point to stock
Btw my previous dyno with the same mods, but with an obd2 stock ecu put out 157 whp and 117 tq. With the j's chip I gained a few hp throughout the entire powerband.
Overall, the J's chip is a great street chip, especially for mild mods. And it gets great gas mileage. 30mpg + highway (w/b16 tranny)
If I set the vtec to stock on the skunk2 chip I would of definitely gained back the lost midrange power. The skunk2 chip makes more power but runs way too rich. Its probably the best chip out there, but imo its not a very good street chip. It gets pretty poor gas mileage as well. 23 mpg + highway (w/b16 tranny)

great dyno. J's racing is defiantly a top notch chip, as far as fuel economy and power.

nice numbers!!! I wonder how much more power can be achieved with a header and a strait through muffler and cams? lol... the list never ends...

Awesome
These are exactly the kind of posts there need to be more of. Straight info, dyno-proven performance. No bullshit. Thanks for posting RoaringTurtle

well, definately the too-high xover point is responsible for most of the midrange dip for the skunk2 proggy. But isn't it safe to say that the limited mods on the car are what is holding the skunk2 back and making it look bad. It sounds like neither proggy is making much more power than the stock ecu. It looks like untapped potential to me, perhaps for both progs.

Re:
I don't have many mods on my engine, so yes there is untapped potential for both chips
The skunk2 chip would definitely make more power then the j's if the vtec was set to the stock setting
The j's is not the best chip out there
However it's a great street chip for what it is
I was simply making a comparison to those who are looking for a fairly good street chip for their p28/p30's
Seems like alot of people get the mugen/skunk2 chip (which performs very well, yes) however its not ideal for a daily driver if you want to save on gas

could you post up the dyno sheet?
I'm interested into seeing the a/f ratio
