Default Understeer, my VX, rear swar bar kits and me.

I'm a suspension noob, and im looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I have a daily driven civic VX and i have alot of understeer. I know my VX has no rear swaybar, and i know i need LCA's that have a spot for a rear sway bar. I know i need a sway bar, and endlinks . . . what else do i need to put on a rear sway bar? Is there some sort of kit i can buy that has all of this together?

I have looked around and found that blox carries a kit, and beaks carries a kit. I just need a little guidance on this topic.

thanks guys/gals
Clueless suspension noob

I found this setup from beaks. It says its a kit for my 95 civic without a rear swaybar. Would this be a kit that has everything i need to add a rear swaybar on my civic?

To be completely honest that beaks kit is the way to go!!! Good price too!

Keep in mind that with any sway bar you always want one with some rear subframe reinforcement, like the beaks, asr, comptech.

I've read post of how you have to modify something when installing the beaks subframes re-enforcements. Does anyone have clarity on this issue?

A few points:

*If you aren't autocrossing/tracking the car, why do you care if it understeers? If you're driving your car that hard on the streets, please don't.

* Does it have stock suspension?

*The Suspension Techniques Speedtech rear sway/lower tie combo is a killer piece. Big 22mm sway with beefy subframe reinforcement that bolts over/through the rear subframe. I have it on my EM1 and love it. Requires drilling ot the subframe to make it fit (and that's on a car w/ a stock sway--your EG won't have a drilled subframe, so get a good drill bit and go to town). The ST instructions are really good, BTW. Not a hard install and I'm a sucky mechanic.

*You could also go to a junkyard and get the rear sway setup from a Civic EX coupe or Si hatch. You'd prbably need new endinks, but it would be a way to get a swaybar on there on the cheap.

No my car doesn't have a stock suspension, but it is lowered on crappy rusted springs and nearly blown out shocks. This is my DD;however, i still wanna carve up corners and uphold the honda bouble wishbone suspension. There is so much slop when i turn a corner, and i heard a rear swaybar would probly be the best handling upgrade i could make.

I don't drive hard on the streets, I live in oklahoma, plenty of rural areas out here with twisty roads. Roads that im not carving up because of my crappy suspension.

Weak springs and a fat rear sway (with the weak 92+ civic rear x-member) can lead to torn subframes, that why you use the beaks. In some extreme cases the beaks kits didn't prevent tearing, but its much cheaper than the big aluminum plates you'd buy otherwise.

Exactly. Stiffer springs are good for a stiffer swaybar.

Softer spring and a stiff swaybar generally mean the sway isn't moving much ans the springs are--the thing that takes the brunt of that is the subframe, where the bar mounts will tear out if not reinforced well.

The whole thing is a package, and suspension is one of the worst places to skimp w/ crappy components.
