Typical starter/help me please question 95eg.cx.gsr
I have a 95 civic cx hatch with a gsr.
Randomaly the car would not crank in a parking lot after being cranked atleast three times that day.
Got a push start.
again.
again.
Woke up today trying to diagnose the problem. '
Checked all fuses good.
I did the checks to see if the ignition/battery is bad.
All lights work;radio;etc.
When the clutch is engaged it clicks meaning that clutch device is working
Sooo. I took the starter out when removing the nut that the two power wires go to it sparked so i disconnected the batter.
everything "looks fine" cleaned it and replaced it.
The car still just clicks when turned over. a starter is 150 dollars and im a broke ***.
Is there anything else can do I know someone is going to say grounds.
Thanks for the help.
Ive just never heard of a starter going out without warning.

When you said you got sparks... Did you arc the starter? To see if the starter works?
A few months back my car just stopped starting all of a sudden. There are 2 clutch engagement switches under the dash... Did you check both?

I thought that if it was clicking it meant the clutch engagements were good.
How do I go about checking those.
I did nothign with the starter only tried to take the bolt out that holds the power wire and it sparked.

Go out there, and touch a screwdriver to both posts before you go out and buy a new $150 starter.
I don't know what you mean by clicking... Clicking once when you turn the ignition?
Stick your head under your dash and look at the switches on the clutch pedal. One's low and obvious... One's WAY up in there. There should be **BLUE** little stopper in a hole. I believe OEM stoppers are blue anyway. If that little stopper fell out, or broke, when you push the clutch pedal in, it won't engage, and your car WON'T START.

Oh... stupid warning... but if you go out there and arc your starter, make sure your car is in NEUTRAL!

When my 93 cx wasn't starting, I heard that single click. I thought people had said that meant the switches were functioning... but they weren't.
Mine ended up being that upper solenoid. The blue stopper had shattered, which I found in the floorboard. I disconnected it, and used a paper clip to jump it. Started up just like it used too. Now it starts without having the clutch engaged.

Easy to check them... Other then the switches could be a relay... or your ignition switch. Wiring from your ignition to the starter...
Start with the simple things...
Check the switches!!

Re: Typical starter/help me please question 95eg.cx.gsr (nonvtec92)
have someone try to start the car while you listen to the starter.. if the starter clicks, but doesnt crank, the solenoid is probably bad.. give the starter a whack with something, it might help. my starter was on its way out and i'd only get one click. i hit it with a hammer and it used to start no problem for a few months.. if the starter isnt clicking then its something before the starter.. clutch safety switch (if manual), or neutal safety switch (auto).. or all the way back to the ignition cylinder.
