type R suspension (not 5 bolt related) ek
Starting my ek soon. Heres the jist of it. This car is strickly a dialy......but i have to have some fun with it. Its getting a boosted d16z6 , not even sure if i will get new wheels... might leave the hub caps on. But i cant handle stock suspension.... i was thinking that a oem type R front and back would be pretty cost efective and all the performance i need. This car will not see a track, I dont want to be bouncing around on lowering springs and dont have the want or the money to buy performance struts.
Question is I guess. How much higher will the type R suspension rasie an ek hatch. I am fine with stock ride height but dont want it to be higher.
I know alot of you are goign to say just buy springs and call it a day , I live in Canada. We can get 2 feet of snow in no time and i dont plan on driving a lowered car in the snow again. And I dont want to switch out springs/suspension every winter
Thanks

I live in Canada too, and like you expected, i will say the same as many others, a "good" set of coil springs. I have owned so many cars over the years, and one great option i can suggest that will work for you year round is Suspension Techniques.
The cool thing about them is that they ride like a million bucks at the lowered stance. That being said, they usually have two different lowering stances, i always get the less of the drop option which is about 1 1/2 inches down from stock height. They are priced well to, and are my favorite bang for the buck. Next would be a rear swap bar upgrade!

Thanks. I had some of those on my 88 accord back in the day. They did ride well.
Also read about the R rears not working. I will have to re evaluate what i will do.

why not just get some good shocks, like tokico blues and get some good springs, like h&r, or eibach, or dropzone, d-2's. springs aren't that bad. they ride better than coilovers. well, cheap coilovers anyway. even tein makes a nice lowering spring for a good price. just cause its type r doesn't mean its the best out there, ya know.

the ITR springs are designed to support the teg which is heavier than your ek, you will likely sit higher than you currently do. (especially the linear springs in the front)
Better to go with a set of aftermarket progressive rate springs designed to lower the car an inch and a good shock with it.
Couple that with some decent sways and you'll be very happy.
stock ek springs: 165F/80R (F&R progressive rate) [F-2.9k/R-1.4k]
stock ITR springs: 250F/250R (F-Linear R-Progressive) [F-4.4k/R-4.4k]
