turbo or supercharger for my 99 si...and why...
my uncle is a mechanic and he tells me that the supercharger would be better than the turbo because the charger kicks in faster than the turbo. he said that the turbo kicks in after all the air goes through later than the charger would.

yeah, hes right, superchargers get boost from pretty must the go, and turbochargers have to push air through to spin the turbo before they engage. but turbochargers are more fuel efficient than superchargers(from what Ive heard) the turbos use waste from the engine and the supercharger doesnt.

superchargers take power to make power......turbos use waste exhaust air to make power....also superchargers are very limited to power output ranges....turbo's are very tuneable.....i hope this helps......TURBO for me

I like superchargers because they provide boost right away, which offers you alot more low end power/torque, which is really nice if you have VTEC... Jackson racing makes a really nice supercharger, if I had your car, I would get it.

Very helpfull
If I were you I'd go with the turbo. They are very tunable and you can set them up to meet your needs. Theres a turbo Si in my area putting down around 500WHP! Good Luck!

ive never seen a JSRC dyno thats worth a damn. I would look into a properly sized turbo. Turbo gets my vote

it would run better if you tuned it, the fuel/air ratios would be a lot better and a lot of other things, Im not too knowledgable on it, so youll have to get someone elses answer.

Our cars have low torque - superchargers help make low end power. That said, if you drive your car everyday, and just want it to be faster in normal driving situations, go with a supercharger. A turbocharger kicks in later in the rpm band, also where our engines are designed to make power. So a turbocharger will give you much more horsepower, but if you drive your car mildly throughout the day, you might never notice it.
If you're like me, where everytime you pull up to a light, you're hoping you get someone who wants to race, you might want to go with a turbocharger (you'll be revving high and ready to race a lot). If you drive mildly and want horsepower for convenience (zipping around in city traffic, let's say), you should go with a supercharger.
There's tons more information about turbochargers and superchargers on the web. If you still have questions, go here: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question122.htm
