Default turbo kit

Hey guys. I am leaning to a kit for my 92 4-door. It's a d16b and I am looking for a inexpensive kit. I reamember greddy was pretty cheap. I don't know what they run thesedays? I hear things about cheapturbo having good deals for simple single cam kits? Any help or advice will help. thanks. nick

plus an intercooler and fuel management and and ecu chipping and tuning youll be looking at a good 4500.......imo i would do a junkyard turbo with companies like greddy all youre really paying for is the name. or you could save your money for a bigger turbo

and where did you see a greddy kit for 1600?

Ebay has plenty of d-series Greddy kits in the 1500 range. Out of the box they run low psi and without an intercooler. For the money it's a good beginner kit and when upgraded it can give you pretty decent numbers. Add an intercooler, bov, bigger exhaust and downpipe, engine management, and tuning shouldn't add more than another $1000.

Yeah I have seen ebay greddy kits go for less than 1400 for the D series. O f course that is no intercooler. I think the greddy kits are a good beginning point. I did a homemade turbo the 2nd time around and just having to piece **** together that worked was a pain. Like the HF manifold for example. I COULD NOT find a turbo position that would let me keep the wastegate (internal) on installed on the turbo. So I was faced with either getting the HF manifold tapped for external wastegate, buying a different turbo or buying a different manifold. I could deal with that because I knew what I was doing, but if someone wants to get into the turbo realm easily, greddy isnt bad. I think if you have never turboed your car before, a pre-fabbed kit isnt a bad deal.
