Default Trying to identify a sensor hoping someone can help

Hey guys I am doing a swap on a 2000 civic ex with an auto d16y8.

Today while removing the upper intake tube we broke some type of sensor I would like to id.

It screws into the top of the thermostat housing just next to the temperature sensor.

It is black plastic, has a hose coming out the top and one that T's off it's side and goes into the intake tube.

Would anyone know what it is?

Normally should have a tube coming out the side

I never seen this sensor in a Manual transmission civic.
Is probably related to automatic tranny.
or heater temperature sensor with a vacuum connection.

Okay, after a bit of looking I came to a conclusion that the sensor you broke off is your "Fuel Injection Air (FIA) Control Vavle/System" It's found only on 99,00 Civics with D16Y8 motors. Finding the part might be a bit of a challenge since it's not listed as what it's really called; so the sales person at the dealership might not be able to find it. If I can remember right, the part is called something like "air valve assist solenoid" I did a quick search and the Honda Part Number for this sensor is "36281-P2P-A01" See if it works. Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

thx guys I will try that part number, I have also never seen this but it's the first time I do an auto d16y8 out of a 99-00 civic.

The friend I am doing the swap with works parts at Honda so we'll eventually find it but a part number will get us going.

I will see if I can get a replacement today at napa or auto value based on the name you guys gave it.

I believe this has nothing to do with Automatic D16y8 or Manual D16y8. In my book, a section of it describes it only comes in 99 D16y8 models. And the trouble shooting sections stated it's off 99-00 D17y8 Civics. So it's either or, but seems like Honda was testing something and wanted to include it only in certain models.

But good luck on your problem and let us know if you have any other questions.
