Trouble wiring IABs into 00 Civic EX with B18C1
I'm still attempting to finish my 01 gsr swap into my 00 Civic. The only thing still not working right are my IABs. I'm fairly certain I have them wired up right and a good connection, but I'm still not getting vacuum at idle to the IAB diaphragm. Here's all relevent information.
1. OBD2B p72 ecu
2. have red/blue IAB wire going to correct ECU pin (don't remember what it is, but I'm sure it's right)... believe it's 3 in from the right on the middle row of connector B. I've double and triple checked it.
3. have black/yellow IAB wire going to solid body ground - same one that engine grounds to from valve cover.
4. have voltage across the 2 IAB pins in the connector plug at the IAB tank... not much, but multimeter shows like .014 consistent from signal to ground. Not sure if this is the problem, but Helms doesn't say how much is needed... just says to check for voltage.
5. have continuity on signal wire and ground wire from connector to respective destinations (ecu and body ground).
6. have vacuum going into IAB tank.
7. no vacuum at hose coming out of tank going to IAB diaphragm. This should have vacuum at idle.
So, indications say I might have a bad IAB solenoid, but I'm still wondering if I have something wired badly or vacuum routed wrong. There's another vacuum nipple coming out of the tank NEXT to the solenoid that does have vacuum, but it just runs back into the tank underneath the solenoid... is that maybe the hose that should be going to the diaphragm, or is that something else? I thought it just fed vacuum from the tank into the solenoid, but I could be wrong. The Helms IAB vacuum diagram isn't very clear on what goes where - it just looks like spaghetti to me.
Any ideas anyone? Someone has to have seen this before.

The wire you have going to ground.... It needs to have 12 volts. Change that and IAB's will work.

orly? Think I tried that, but will try again. Thanks very much.
DrewMD - The way they work (and according to the Helms) you should see vacuum at idle. After 5800 rpm, the ECU cuts voltage, which closes the solenoid, which cuts vacuum to the diaphragm, so you won't see vacuum after 5800.

So after going through everything again with a multimeter, I've discovered that I don't even have 12 volts at the ECU pin... The ECU is only putting out .4 volts directly to the pin that this is going to.
Most solenoids require 12V, don't they? Why would my ECU only be putting .4 volts to this pin?
The pin I'm running off of is B16 in this pic:

The ECU supplies ground, you supply the power to the other side of the solenoid. So, ECU goes to one wire on the plug, switched ignition goes to the other wire on the plug.

orly? That makes total sense then... I just run a 12v source into one side, and the other side grounds to the ECU? Holy crap, I never thought of that.
Will try it when I get a little time to work on it again. Thanks.

Just make sure to post back up once you get your IAB's going to verify that all is well.

Works great now. Ran red/blue (right side) wire to ECU. Ran black/yellow (left side) wire to + terminal on the battery.
Thanks guys!
