Transmission switch(auto to manual) Will this alter the title?
Hey yall, i was just wondering. I have a friend with a 97 civic, and he is wanting to convert this from an automatic to a manual. Im not asking how to do it, i know there are plenty of exsisting threads on that. What im asking is will it mess with the title of the car. That seems to be a pretty big alteration to the vehicle so i was just wondering if it would change your title to rebuilt or something. If there was a previous thread on this im sorry, i didnt search, but it seems to be a unique question so i went ahead and asked.

Thats pretty frickin doubtful dude. I believe the title only states that yr/model/vin. Why dont you get out your title and LOOK.

yes it does alter it. I owned a 93 Civic auto and did the 5 speed swap, the title read auto and it was a 5 speed so they said that its a rebuilt.

I hope its payed for. Because if he still has notes and the car gets repoed, you can get sued by the finance co. for destroying/reducing the cars value. I don't know about the title, but if your in a accident the insurance co. also may not be liable to pay damages because of the alterations.
