Transmission help on a 95 4 door lx
Just got a "new" daily driver. I have heard that Honda automatic transmissions are fairly firm shifters. The issue I am having is that the car takes really long to shift, just under normal driving it won't shift until almost 3K, and when it does it is a pretty harsh shift, it doesn't have any problem engaging the next gear, or downshifting, or shipping, or and noises, but it is just kind of a harsh shift, and it seems like it is a late shift point under normal driving conditions. Any help would be appreciated. Info on the car is a 1995 LX automatic with a 1.5 ltr in it. Thanks in advance for the help.

BTW the transmission has about 107K on it, do you guys think changing the trans filter and fluid would help, and is it more in depth than dropping the pan and filling it back up?

lets start with the cheapest and the most obvious. change out the tranny fluid with some fresh one. make sure you use honda ATF. you should notice smoother shifting.

1. it doesn't have a pan to drop
2. the filter is internal.
3. Honda Atf is the only way to go,
you may wanna try taking it to Honda and having them flush it since they reverse flush it, so as to get the stuff at the screen.

Well, I just got it back from Scott Honda in West Chester, PA and they flushed it and it didn't really help much, it shifts a little, i mean a little, softer, but it still won't shift into 3rd gear before 3K rpms, no matter how slow im going. Is this normal?
