Default Help transmission problems!

I was replacing my ISB. Come to find out my 3-4 shift fork was broken. So I took shift forks from a different trans and put my gearset in them. Now when I put the case together the tranny locks up in every gear. Then when I open it back up the reverse gear falls over like it's not down in it's hole. So it's coming out inside the case. Also it won't shift into all the gears completely and won't go into reverse at all. But the interlock is aligned and the shift forks are aligned with the shift selector. What's the problem? Could I have messed something up swapping shift forks?

Sorry for taking so long but it is a s20 as well as the forks. It shouldn't matter if it's b000 or a000 for the forks should it?

Still don't know my buddy at MadScientistAuto is taking a look at it. He thinks I forced the case back together and squished the gears. But shouldn't the shift fork just push forward on the s2k? Like towards the epicenter of the bell housing.

Idk how to attach pics from my phone but the case halves went down until the snap ring for the countershaft bearing mad contact so then I spread the snap ring and had to push down to get the snap ring started onto the bearing then I flipped it over and shook it really hard and heard the clunk and snap ring was seated so I bolted it down and out the IGB in. It'd go through the gears but the input shaft wouldn't turn and after I did a 5th gear and reverse check it wouldn't come out of those gears easily. I tried to run through the gears again and it wouldn't go into 5th or reverse. So I separated the halves and the reverse idler shaft and gear both came out of place as in they weren't in the hole.

There is always Facebook to host your pics. MSA might not be on my friends list but he knows of me. I wonder if the IGB was misaligned slightly?

Did you clean both shafts and use oil when reassembling?

Didn't think I had to when I was just replacing a bearing and shift forks. But IGB was aligned in the hole it appeared anyways. But Jarvis said it wasn't anything simple because IGB wasn't a problem more than likely I messed up putting the case halves together. It made a pop as I was torquing down to spec and it freaked me out but then people told me that was normal. I think that's when it possibly forced the case down.

If it made a popping noise when bolting the cases together....yeah that is bad news.

16 years playing with P20's...little did I know it would lead to this!

Yeah I sent you the details on Facebook in a screenshot. But for everyone else. If you hear a pop when you're torquing down your case halves you just bent your 5th gear synchro and the sleeve all to ****.

Only way that to happen is if the synchro wasn't indexed properly to begin with.

The case must not have been seated properly when you torqued down the bolts. Thats why you dont use the bolts to tighten the case down. It should already seated when you torque em.

Indexed is the alignment of the synchro right? Yeah he showed me where the brass was chewed out on each side of the synchro. He told me that my selector had been stripped out and made it stick in fifth. Cause when I pulled the selector bolt out it only had three threads so I got a new bolt but it wouldn't tighten all the way to spec he said that's why it stayed in fifth cause when I tried shifting it would never shift back to neutral completely. So putting the case back on it seated on the diff side but not the shafts side it had about 1mm gap. So tightening it down squished it all together smashing the synchro.
