Default tranny swap

ok i have a d15b7 automatic right now. and i can get a ex tranny for cheap my question is how hard would it be to swap and what would i need. i've done some reading but havnt come up with much. thanks

Ex trans will bolt right up, auto to auto i think u might need the ecu some1 chime in

yes. if you dont want to do, or have done all that auto to manual stuff to your car, go for a z6 tranny

Its the same tranny. All 5th gen D-series automatics use 1 of 2 transmissions:

M24A -> All automatic D-series Civics and Del Sols from '92 - '94
A24A -> All automatic D-series Civics and Del Sols for '95

DX/LX/EX all used the same tranny as far as the automatics go, manuals are an entirely different story.

i thought EX had a better tranny than dx and lx?

but if 94eg8 says it, it must be true. you know your stuff

they do have a different transmission IF they are manual... they have the same automatic trannies though..

I've been wrong before, and i'll probably be wrong again. Most of what I post on H-T, in regards to '92 - '95 civics anyway is based on personal expirences working on them, many of them, and often. Some info is taken from highly knowledgeable individuals who have over time proven they normally know what they are talking about (Katman for instance for wiring info and ECU pinouts, and NOFX for her wealth of 6th gen civic knowledge, there are others too numerous to mention) Still other info is taken from service manuals, wiring diagrams and technical service bulletins.

True on all this, it's good to read and learn a lot of times..
