Default Are tranny oil changes bad

Well I wanted to take my 2001 MDX with over 100k to do a tranny flush because the transmission is shifting very hard. So they tell me that the sediments in the oil from the gears constantly rubbing eventually seal up all the crevices. And that after replacing the oil I could expose these vulnerable places or whatever that means and that will lead to further damage . Is this true? Why?

I'm worried about my EM1 now. Is this also true on manual transmission?

It is PARTIALLY true what they told you. Automatic tranny fluid has detergents, and CAN clear away some sludge and debris that have found their way into small crevices.

Its best to keep an auto tranny maintained by flushing the fluid about every 30k.

I have heard of auto tranny's starting to slip after a flush or fluid replacement.

Manual transmissions aren't as touchy though.

Yea that's exactly what he was saying. That the tranny would start slipping and to be honest I did, for some odd reason, think of the detergents.

Fluid changes can also help with rough shifting though in auto's. We do it at Honda all the time.
