Traction issues?
i have a b18 in my EX and I seem to have a issue with my traction launching and in between gears. I wrapped my 14inch steelies in Azenis but for some reason I still spin tires like crazy going into 2nd gear. I dont know if this is a good thing or bad thing, but im kind of use to cherping tires going to 2nd before my swap and now all i get is a spinn out. only problem that I know about is that my passenger side axle has a torn CV booth but i dont know if that would affect anything.

The axle being like that shouldnt have any effect unless its totally broken....i thought azenis had good traction hmmm...

Re: Traction issues? (KiDSoL)
I thought they where to. Only thing i can think of is that since is the middle of winter down here and the ground is cold, because when I had the 17s on here the car was spinning those to going into 2nd but those tires didnt have thread left in them either.

Re: Traction issues? (BLK99VTECR)
how are you shifting...
Sounds like you're overgassing before releasing the clutch...
I don't car if you have a porsche TT RWD if you know how to drive it you can get traction....
Remember... flooring it and spinning the tires isn't half as fast as using 1/2-3/4 throttle and getting solid traction.
Also check the inflation... if they're over inflated they won't grip the road properly at all... try running them as low as 26-28 in the front and see if that helps...
If they're low now then try bringing them up a bit.
oh and fix that axel

yeah, get a new cv boot or you'll have to replace the whole axle... as far as spinning try being easy on the gas right at launch and after your shift... gradually increase instead of stomping on it. I'm sure the cold weather doesn't help any either. Tires don't like to be too cold or too hot.

with how cheap axles are I wouldn't even consider doing boots... they're SUCH a pain and the replacement boots aren't very good (at least the one's I've seen).
Get them from autozone or similar parts store and they'll most likely have a lifetime guarantee.

I was driving on summer tires for awhile (es100s) fairly similar to the azenis. I would break them loose just past vtec once in the beginning of my powerband. They need warmth to grip, the cold turns them into rocks which = no traction.

what's the max psi listed on the side of the tire... My guess would be 35...
Yeah 40 is WAY WAY too much for most tires...
I run mine at 28 normally to 32 At the MOST...
Why do you have them set at 40?
If it's for snow traction... lower pressure's actually better... it'll kill your sidewalls but if you get stuck in the snow the best way to get out is to let the pressure down to 20psi or so and fill them back up asap.

Re: (BLK99VTECR)
definatlely drop your pressure down to at very least 35. i run 30 all around on my azenis... i don't have many traction issues with a 100hp motor though they do grip shitty in the cold also.
stop trying to do drag launches etc on the street, learn how to control the throttle instead of mashing it, and look into an lsd.

Nice #s on that Si man
Anyways you want instant relief? Check your pressure.
I have nitto555R's they are way better than azenis but theres a world of differences between them when I lower it 15psi.

i also have a b18 with work done to it and i also have the falken radials but as long as they are warm i dont spin at all and believe me i put out alot of power its all bout the sifting.... i mean out the whole i cant lauch past 2300 or else its spin central but as long as you do a nice burn out before you'll be okay.

I wouldn't go as low as 15... unless I were at the track but even then I wouldn't want it THAT low...
23-25 should be more than low enough to spread out the tire a little more w/o damaging the sidewall...
Plus at 15psi I HAVE to imagine it would scrub enough power after launch it wouldn't be worth the launch...
DEFINATELY don't run under 25 on the street... you'll KILL your tires... and they'll seperate in the middle of the sidewall.. it WON'T be pretty.
