Default Total JDM Motors

I recently purchased a b16a2 complete swap including axles and shift linkage for $2495 including shipping. I thought I was getting a deal but all I got was grief. They said they got the cleanest engines and 110%customer satisfaction. I recieved the engine 1 1/2 weeks later after they got there payment. The engine was clean and I was Happy. I had my friend install it he owns his own shop in Orlando (orlando honda/acura specialist).HIGHLY RECOMMENNED. He did a awsome job since they sent me the wrong ECU. It was for a automatic trans. Now they should know better. they also sent me the 2 different kinds of axles(1 integra and 1 civic) They knew I had a del sol. Also the wrong shift linkage but he made it work. To top it off 3rd gear grinds and needs to be replaced. After weeks of trying to get in touch with them. Seems like they dont return calls I guess. I finally reach them online and they said they would send me another ECU and $75 for the axles also try to get me another trans he would email with the that info. I was happy.Well it never happened. A couple of weeks later trying to get in touch everyday without success I finally got them on the phone they said they were sorry for the mix up he said they have been very busy and they just Fed Ex my ECU and check. He gave me a tracking # and I was happy again. Until I got home I used the tracking # to find out it was for someone else. Now I am at this point waiting, trying to get in touch with them again. They seem very cooperitive on the phone they tell you one thing and do the opposite. Did anyone else buy an engine from them????

just a bit of FYI
Just because a store has a banner here, doenst mean they have a good business. H-T sells out to who pays the bills. I can understand that, but I dont condone it. (Ive complained before and I was temporarily banned)

Anyway, this is the first bad thing Ive heard about totaljdm. I was actually concidering them for parts later down the road. Keep us posted on updates.

And this really belongs in General, not civic.

On 9/15/04 this is message I sent to Total JDM: I would like a status/update on my order which was placed on 7/22/04. I have tried contacting your company several times by e-mail and phone messages over the last several days, and I have received no response. According to JDM's records, they received my cashier's check on 8/19/04, and according to the bank's records, the check was cashed by Total JDM and cleared on 8/26/04. The inquiry/message page indicated that they received the check and the order was going to be shipped upon the final inspection of the product, it already passed the first inspection. This was documented on 8/19/04. As of 9/15/04 I have had no status updates, etc. from Total JDM. I should have received my order by that time and was very concerned about the lack of response I have had from them. ON 9/16/04 Total JDM responded and stated that the phone and mail servers had not been functioning and they have received 900 inquiries all at once and that this was a rare problem and were very sympathetic. Due to the shipping department not being able to "see" my order, because of the problem, the engine they had in stock for me is no longer in stock. Total JDM is "anticipating" a shipment in the next couple of weeks and offered me $100.00 refund and an instrument cluster of my choice. I responded that same day (9/16/04) and questioned the availability of a different motor, and if it was in stock and passed all inspections so that they could ship it too me ASAP. As of 9/22/04 they have again not responded to my numerous e-mails, messages, and phone calls. I sent them another e-mail recognizing that the communication with them via e-mail is not effective and that two months have passed since I placed my order and still have not received it. I have requested a representative to contact me so that we can discuss further arrangements about a resolution to this issue. I hope everything works out for you. Dave Del Villaggio

Thanks you the info. I did hear from them today through email and they said they are changing management and sorry for the delay in getting back in touch with me. They said they would try to find me another ECU and pay to get 3rd gear fixed along with $75 for the axles. I really hope they come through. I will keep everyone post on the situation. I have my fingers crossed. I am glad to hear everything went well for you jindeisel. I do have to say my engine does look and is clean.

well if they do come good for at least what they're saying they will, then they are a good shop.

mixed up axels and linkges are quite common. Have you seen any pictures of importer shops. All the axels are in a big stupid pile. some are so similar you can't tell the diff until you try to fit it.

The blame goes back to the guys who pull the engines who don't have the time of day to properly label stuff.

I think all shop[s have problems like this. In the end it comes down to customer service. I just saw someone who had a bad experience with hmotorsonline the other day. I know I bought my swap from venus motors and they were REALLY cool. I got my motor in 6 days. Started right no problems. An internet friend of mine got the same motor from them and the whole thing was rusted and filled with water. **** like this happens, but waiting and waiting for a refund is not cool.

its true that all shops are going to have problems some where along the line. Most of them don't go over to Japan and extensively test and pull all their engines themselves (probably none do). They order a big crate and they take what they get.

Its when shops try to pull fast ones to get rid of their junk on distant customers etc. that i'd have the problems with.

Did the rusted engine with water in it leave the shop that way? I doubt it, probably the shipping company left it out in the rain some where en route.

The best way to buy an engine is to go pick it out and pick it up yourself. I did that and i still got wrong mounts and axels and parts. The engine was good tho .

was the bad 3rd gear your fault or theirs? sounds like its theirs and if thats the case why arent they giving you the full $500 if they have a 110% satisfaction guarentee. sounds like a crappy company. good luck getting it all worked out.

Sometimes with things like this it makes sense to pay more money now to save money in the long run.
