Most of them don't go over to Japan and extensively test and pull all their engines themselves (probably none do). They order a big crate and they take what they get.
Its when shops try to pull fast ones to get rid of their junk on distant customers etc. that i'd have the problems with.
Did the rusted engine with water in it leave the shop that way? I doubt it, probably the shipping company left it out in the rain some where en route.
The best way to buy an engine is to go pick it out and pick it up yourself. I did that and i still got wrong mounts and axels and parts. The engine was good tho .

The thing is....whomever's fault it was is irrelevant....my friend got another motor within days. Mess ups can happen..its like you said when they try to pull fast ones or slack on getting a refund/reembursement. I agree that hand picking your motor is best, but some people just cant. I mean for me, the nearest place that sells motors (if anywhere even does in MN) is almost 600 miles away

i had a problem with a company named Ryhtm Motorsports, I ordered a set of coilovers in May and by July, they still had not come in, so I had been trying to get in touch with them, I finally do and they tell me they are on back order, so I am like, OK, i just want a refund, because my credit card had been charged back in MAy, so i had to keep badgering them, and finally this month I got my refund, Ryhtm motorsports has good prices, and good customer service, they wereare real nice, but there shipping sucks!!!!

ditto about Rythm Motorsports, I've placed 3 orders with them, first was for tsudo N1 exhaust, got it right away no problems, call them back up for skunk2 shifter, ****, replacement bulbs and a high flow cat, I got the shifter, **** and one set of lights no problem, but never got the high flow cat, or h7 lamps, I call and call to talk to Tanner (owner) and he kept giving me run around about back order etc, then he says he'll ship with my next order, I ordered skunk2 springs and camber kits, still no cat, no lamps...now I'm getting pissed, I call everyday and he's out or something, finally I get ahold of him and he says I was refunded to my paypal account oct 2nd, well I checked it and still no money, next day he says to give it 24 hours, I've given it over a week now, called yesterday and he was out for the day! I'm super pissed now and will be calling in a fury this afternoon, if I can pay instantly he should refund instantly....I will NOT be doing any more business with them. PERIOD

Re: Total JDM Motors (delvil)
Update as of October 15, 2004: On an e-mail sent to Total JDM on Sept. 24, I asked Total JDM: Due to my delays, and in a good faith gesture can you send me an instrument cluster now? Also I will await a status update from your company on my motor order. On Sept. 26, 2004 they replied: We can send you the instrument cluster, but the one you requested is a really rare find. we do not have it in stock right now and it might be quite some time before we do. But you can be assured when we DO get one, it will be shipped to you. This is the last communication I have had from them. There were various e-mails before this one assuring me that they would be receiving the motor within a short time and currently have their staff trying to locate a motor for this situation. That was 9/22/04. I have also questioned the availability of other motors that I would be interested in purchasing, and I have had no response. Again this order was placed on July 22,2004 and as of Oct. 15, I have received NOTHING. It has been close to 90 days since this order was placed. That is a longer than the 3-7 business days that you can expect your engine to arrive after payment has been received stated on their website at the time of my purchase.

Re: Total JDM Motors (delsoleddie)
well its been about 3 weeks and I still have NOTHING no refund for $250 in which they said they shipped out on the 18th. It does not take more than a week to deliver a letter. Also no ECU. They are blowing smoke up my *** AGAIN and I am starting to get really pissed off. Especially when they say one thing and do another. Anyone else with problems with TOTALJDM please let me know. thanks

Re: Total JDM Motors (delsoleddie)
10/26/04 - As of last Saturday (10/16)I put the D-Series motor back into my car! Sunday (10/17), Total JDM sent me an e-mail stating that they apologize for the delay and gave me a choice of cancelling my order and sending me a partial refund (no amount specified) or give them another 7-10 days before the engines clear into the USA warehouse. I replied that evening and inquired about the availability of another motor or more specific information on when my original motor will be shipped. I have heard nothing back from them as of today - my original motor order was placed on 7/22/04 - it's now 10/26! I feel they have had plenty of time to resolve this issue regardless of their situation...we'll see!

Re: Total JDM Motors (delsoleddie)
11/10/04- No communication of any kind from Total JDM since 10/17/04. I have sent numerous e-mails and have had no response from Total JDM. The suggested resolutions by Total JDM have not been followed through with, and the situation has not improved. Good luck with everything!!! Dave Del Villaggio

Re: Total JDM Motors (H22a N IT)
When did you place your motor order with Total JDM? Have they been in contact with you over time? I have sent them numerous e-mails - the last they responded to me was over three weeks ago! Don't know what to do at this point!!

Use the search feature and use the name "Total Boost" They were/are also using this business name. Also look in the archived section when doing it. I hope this helps!!! Good luck with everything- Dave Del Villaggio
