Default Top Speed 2nd try

original thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1796444

the last post was locked before i was able to reply to anyone so imma try this again, i got alot of info i needed but never got the chance to ask any follow up questions that would actually help. i think thats a load of crap cuz it happens constantly over lagitimate questions with no real flaming or hostile comments.

whatever ill just post it all over again

im working with a d, the engine kicks back just above 120. is that an ecu thing or the fact its a d15, the engine feels like it can go further but something is stopping it. soon as you reach 122 pressing the gas does nothing. im not taping out im still around 2500 rpms from redline.
someone help trying to drop a turbo on it and i dont wanna just get to 120 really quik and not go any faster. was also considering the NX kit ive had sitting in the garage for a different car that i got rid of already. just dont wanna bother if i cant make it roll over 120

I KNOW ITS A ECU LIMITER ISSUE the vehicle still has some kick in it that being cut short at 120, how do i stop the ecu from limiting how fast i can go. change it out completely if so which one? chip etc what?

why do you want to go faster than 120...?

If you can trap higher than 120, then you have a reason to remove the speed limiter. Until then, please let it be.

i hate to ask cuz i feel a bit dumb for it but what do you mean by trap

also i want it to go over 120 cuz theres 4 miles of dead streight away near my house, road is hardly used ive seen maybe 3 -4 cars other than mine and people im with on the road in the past 2 years. no houses or buissness` just cuts to get to utility lines so its practlicly never used. and sucks when your racing your freind for the fun of it and get beat due to a ecu limiter. i understand peoples issues with me pushing a car that far off a track and also doing it with a practlicly stock d, but really comes down to it being my car and my risks. i know its dumb but ill deal with whatever happens.....dangerouse i know could die etc. but hey if i do it was ment to happen that way

so could someone please tell me how to fix this problem other than "dont do it"
i appreciate any and all info good or bad so beleive me when i say im not trying to knock anyone for telling me this is a bad idea....im dense and wont do otherwise till i learn the hard way.

i personally think that theres no reason to go that fast unless your on a track or in a european car of some sort and are writing an article for a magazine

i know but i really dont see what im doing wrong, im not flaming im not spaming scaming or putting threads in wrong forum. i have an actual question pertaining to my ecu and vehicle as a whole but its seems to happen anyway just because i wanna go faster. people dont beef their cars up to get to 65 mph really quikly and hit cruise control. and for those with no access to a track are gonna do it on the street reguardless so i dont see where im going wrong here. atleast thats how i think of it

its your ******* governor..all of our cars top out around there. u know what happend if u get caught doing that speed? she goes to the impound, and gets sold for 500 tops at a police auction.

if you really wanna know how to get to a higher rpm/faster, PM me..i don't wanna get into any trouble in this thread.

i think my c can get near 120 in third....

hondata, check the website champ.

just take really good care of your car, seriously, something as small as a blow out at that speed will kill you pretty thoroughly.

Though you are in VA.......they should have "parts donor" cards...like those organ donor cards.....

it's funny, i tend to slow down for the straight aways and speed up for the corners....theres no skill involved going fast in a straight line.

ouch, i believe you sir have been pwned

like slkleltlclh said, its your governer. get a chiped ecu and you can go as fast as your little D series can go until it blows.
then we'll get a post from you headlining, "my engines blown"

1. i'm pretty sure a hondata moves the redline north as well as removing the speed governor. but you'll have to double check that.

2. trap speed is your speed as you cross the 1/4 mile mark on a drag strip.

3. and go as fast as you want dude, i used to take my gsr to 145, no car/body parts were donated afterwards.

There have been plenty of cases in which people have that attitude, and try to top out on an empty road in the middle of nowhere. Know what happens? Something goes wrong, maybe not even the driver's fault, and they DIE.

HT isn't going to be responsible for you killing yourself or someone else because you think it's awesome to go 100+ on a public street in your shitbox.
