I had about 6qtz at one time, there was clouds of smoke!, and it ruined my valve cover seals! (go figure).. not a big deal except that oil got into the spark plugs, so car was chokin!, drain it out a bit if you dont want to see the smoke, other wise let it burn off

It's actually 4.2 quarts....and drain any excess out NOW. It's better to be a little low then to have too much oil in your motor. Too much oil, and if you drive hard, you can kiss your motor goodbye.

your crank has to push thrugh that extra oil and its not only robing your engine of HPs, but its very bad for your engine simply beacouse it wasnt made to handel that much oil, it might get into places you dont want oil...

extra oil in your motor doesn't do any damage that i know of but smoke like everyone has already said.the crank does have to work a little harder to push through and does rob a couple horses.I work at a garage and ive held the trigger on the oil gun a little to long a couple of time, per qt over i remove the drain plug for about 3-4 seconds and check the dip stick.

it damages the motor... the engine cant breath... it needs room to breath... if you fill a tank somewhat with water enough for you to breath... imagine filling it up with too much water to where you cant breath...
same thing with your engine... it will starve your engine of the air needed to make power... more stress and wear and tear on your engine.
