Tokico Blues W/H&R Sports or Tokico kit springs???
Hey guys. Well I'm coming to you guys for help again since you were all great in helping me decide on which rims/tires to go with, I went with 15" Konig Heliums with Toyo Proxes T1-s rubber btw.
So now I think I need to lower it a bit before I even put the new rims on. I can get a great deal on shocks and springs from my buddies shop, so here are some options.
Tokico Blues W/Tokico Kit springs (1.5" drop) = $528 (Can)/$400 (usd)
Tokico Blues W/H&R Sports (1.7"F/1.5"R) = $860 (Can)/$651(usd)
Or
Tokico Blues for $426 (Can)/$322(usd) with whichever other spring?
I don't want a super stiff ride, and I don't want to be any lower than 2" from stock. Would it be worth the extra money to go with the H&R's or would it be good enough with the Tokico Suspension kit?
Comments and suggestions would be much appreciated guys, as well as pics.

Re: (h22ame)
dude are you frickin kidding me??
thats not a good deal,
thats a freakin ripoff!! your "friend" isnt exactly hookin u up man.
you can get a set of tokico blues brand new for $2-250
and hr sports brand new for $150
for the prices your friend is giving you, you could spend alittle time shopping around and get koni yellows and hr springs brand new.
of your two spring choices DEFINETELY DEFINETELY get the H&R's,
the drop will be better, and they are one of the best spring makers around
to H&R
found these in a few moments on ebay..
so here, $244 for the blues
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33590
and $150 for the H&R springs
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33582

Re: (Tad)
I'm not going to be buying anything off of e-bay, I've just heard of too many bad experiences from friends. It's kinda hard to compare those prices to mine then.
The H&R's do seem expensive, but I trust him. He got me my Magnalfow cat-back exhaust for only $400 bucks, and the cheapest I could get it here in Saskatoon was $875.
Any other opinions or sugestions?

With stock shocks and aftermarket lowering springs I'll have a choppy ride and my shocks won't last as long, so that doesn't really make much sense to me.

Re: (CamLS)
I think some people dont realize he's canadian... and giving canadian prices.
CamLS,
I just bought Tokico's "Advanced Suspension Kit" (4 Tokico illimunas, 4 tokico lowering springs) for $940 cdn. I will have to see how the ride is.. but the price i got it for was really good imo.
I wanted H&R springs too instead of the tokico springs, but tokico springs are made by eibach (so they say) so i dont mind them. In addition to that, if you run tokico struts with tokico springs, you will be guaranteed lifetime warranty since u are using both their products.
If u blew one of ur tokico struts while running H&R springs, tokico will blame H&R and YOU for having the car too 'low' for their struts.
BTW i recommend illumina adjustables instead of sport blues. I've heard many bad stories about blues. but it all depends on ride height i guess.
good luck man

the mans point was(and the fact is)
that tokico blues really are NOT much of an upgrade over stock,
they still will not handle much springrate, AND will wear out over time with much springrate over stock.
or at least save up alittle and get illuminas or agx's, both are proven
to at least be an actual upgrade!
if your going to pay 3fucking HUNDRED dollars for shocks..
why would you buy something thats only like 15% better than stock!?
just save ur cash and stick with stock,
chances are you wouldnt even notice much of a difference between the tokico blues over stock shocks.
Maybe when they're brand spankin new.. but as previously said.. they are not very trustworthy.
and yes I realized you were speaking in canadian, you listed american dollars also, and thats what I was going on.
and I read every word you wrote..
I find it ridiculous how you just brush off everyone not telling you what you want to hear.
dont ask questions if you already know the answer or are just looking for someone to pat your back on the decision you already made.

Re: Tokico Blues W/H&R Sports or Tokico kit springs??? (Tad)
Tad, I was saying that some of the others seem to not realize I'm canadian, kim noticed that as well. I was laughing at that anyways, so it's no biggie
I havn't been able to find any numbers on the exact stiffness of the Tokico Shocks and springs, so really, I have nothing to go by. If I had some numbers to compare the Illumina's, stock shocks, and the Blues, then it would be a little easier to picture how they would be.
I havn't priced out the Illumina's yet, but I might do that tomorrow to see how much of a difference they would be. How easy are they to adjust once they are installed?

I just noticed you can get the Illumina in a Suspension kit as well. Would that still not be any better with the Tokico Springs.

and you are thinking that $681 USD is a GOOD deal for BLUES and H&R's????...your crazy and obviously have no clue what things are worth and what are the GOOD products on the market.....i suggest you do some heavy research b4 jumping into one os these "DEALS" your "BUDDY" is offering you!!!!!

Re: Tokico Blues W/H&R Sports or Tokico kit springs??? (95cxhatch)
Haha, my buddy is simply telling me the price that HIS parts guy is quoting him, not my buddy. He thinks the H&R's are more because they don't deal with alot of them, so they were a special order. He's looking into it though. I'll know today how much the Illumina Suspension Kit will be as well. I'll give e-bay a try, but I'm still leary about it. What about warranty with anything bought off e-bay that is said to be "brand new"??

well I bought koni yellows off a guy off ebay,
and he was VERY helpful, and I had some questions about missing parts, the guy was right there to help me out and was fully willing to full honor the warranty.
this was far after I'd already payed.
it all depends on who you get the stuff from
just be sure to check their feedback,
and dont trust some1 just cuz they have like 20positive,
but if they have like 200+ positive.. chances are they're legit.
and about the ilumina kit,
honestly, if your gona get those tokico springs,
just get the blues witih them, or stock shocks.
those springs are a 1.5" drop, and people who have had them said they actually ended up dropping LESS than that.
so for like a useless 1" drop, you dont need illuminas..
(however having full damping adjustability is always really nice even if your at truck height, haha)
also i'd take agx's over iluminas, they're basically the same but cheaper.
seriously man, your really gonna want to get the HR springs
tokico = notorious for their products having a chance of ending up being ****
H&R = notorious for high high HIGH quality

Thanks for the info Tad. My buddy is checjing out the Illumina's for me, and I'll see if he can get the AGX's too. What about the Eibach ProKits? Would those be any good?

Re: (Tad)
Does anyone else have any comments on the actual drop of the Tokico springs? If it's only going to be a 1"drop, then that's no good. I'd rather spend the extra and go for springs where I'll actually get the advertised drop.

Re: (CamLS)
So I can get the Illumina's for $139 (Canadian) a Piece and the KYB's would be $200 (Canadian) a piece. I found out he's not able to get great deals on this stuff, so I'm stuck with what they give us. How are those prices for the Illumina's, they sound decent. If I go with the Tokico springs, can I actually expect to get the advertised 1.5" drop?

Man, it doesn't matter how many posts I read, I hear bad things about any shock, man oh man, I wish buying stuff for cars was easier than this, I hate buyers remorse. I don't know if I really need any kind of adjustability, but it would be nice to make things stiffer if I feel it should be that way. I'll see if I can get the prices any lower from my buddy who get's his parts from Lordco btw, for anyone in Western Canada. Maybe they'll price match or something, who knows. I've seen the Illumina Susp Kit for 675 Canadian at modacar.com, but not too sure how much it would cost to get it up to canada with customs/duty/brokerage.
