A tire question that has not been addressed...I think...
Hi all,
Here's a weird one.
I have a '95 LX 4-dr. It came (to me) with 175/70-13 rims/tires. Everything I've read here (yes I have searched, and read every single post!) and everything I find on tirerack.com, etc... all says that my car should have 14" rims. What's the deal? Did some joker put stock steelies from a '92 or '93 LX on my ride? I need to get new tires, and the only decent 'performance' tire I can find is the Sumitomo HTR 200 from Tire Rack. I wanted to go slightly wider/lower in size. I can get the Sumi's in 185/65-13, 195/60-13, and 205/60-13 sizes, all of which come out close enough to stock diameter according to the miata tire size calculator.
Here's the questions:
How wide can I go without bulge/rub issues with these rims? (I think they are 5" wide?)
What about the speedo, considering that I believe the true 'stock' size to be 14" rims? Isn't my speedo calibrated for 14"?
I know I need to ditch the steelies and get some decent rims, but that's just not in the bills...errr...cards right now. Maybe soon, 16" Rota's maybe?
Thanks in advance,
Mike P.

I also have a 95 Sedan and came with stock 13's.. as far as I know those are standard..for sedans at least. About the tire size.. 205/60-13 I think that will be to wide for the stock 13's..

Could anyone offer suggestions?
I know many of you have dealt with stock tire sizes before.
All I really need to know is what the maximum tire size is that will fit on the stock 13" steel rim without bulging or causing problems.
Thanks!
