Default Tip for Rotor replacement!!

Just a little tip for those that will be changing their rotors and are having a great time with those 2 screws......drill them out with a 3/16th bit until the top of the screw pops right off......u dont need those screws anyways. No need to go buy a impact hammer ever again. Hope it helps...

I just use a small punch.... make a dimple between two of the philips indentions and then tilt the punch so that you are driving it loose, then once you break it loose just use a screw driver to get it the rest of the way out... works every time

Well heres a better tip. Go to sears and apply for a Sears Mastercard, $15 off your first bill. The impact driver is $24. So $9 for a great tool. Just did this helped alot. If your worried about having a credit card just cancel it the same day.

may be lazy but if the manual impact driver doesnt work and neither does two others in a shop because theyre so corroded and stuck, what do you do then? drill em out and/or use an air chisel. trust me, it happens

i had that too, i work in the dept i paid and my manager cashed me out, i had bank statement showing i paid it, i had the actual check in hand that had been cashed by sears and i had sears record showing that the only transaction that was lost in the wonderful world of cyberspace was mine. even with receipt and cashed check and bank statement, took 8 months to take care of which meant an 8 month late fee(which they happily took care of) and a credit agency on my *** till sears called them but i still have a bad credit report now cause of it.

screw impact wrenches. Go to Checker or autozone or Kragen or wherever.. and buy a solvent called PB Blaster. It should be like $5. Better than WD40. It's what I used on my rear disc.. well that and a screwdriver and like 10min of soaking.

Either way.. I reused the screws afterwards. Honda put them on there for a reason, might as well put them back.

I spent $40 canadian on the better of the two impact drivers from Ultra-Pro. The thing is a ******* tank and hasn't failed me yet. I've never had rusted rotor screws though, but PB blaster and impact driver and quadramagic combo deals 17,998 hp so I imagine it would work.

good tip on the solvent stuff.

The reason honda put them on there was so the disks don't fall off on the assembly line.

But whatever, to each his/her own, if you find it easier to drill them do that, if you find it easier to use an impact driver then do that, and if you find it easier to use a rust solvent then to that. DO whatever you feel is best.

I had problems with one of my phillips screws so the one I got out, I just threaded a bolt long enough to reach the backside of the rotor, when it reached it made the rotor press outwards breaking free all the rust in a matter of seconds.

another fun idea is to weld someting to the screw... I've done that before.

You just need skill with a welder and a rod of some sort to be attached. And no, the screw is not reusable.

Since I bought the impact driver, I reused those screws. Made assembly a little easier not having to make sure the rotor was always seated. I know I can always get them out now.
