Impact driver bits
My craftsman one never helped me get a single rotor screw out... the one reason i bought it. It sits and gathers dust while i drill all rotor screws out and never use them again

Are you using it right? You need to whale on the thing with the hammer like your life depends on it, but it works everytime. Just watch your fingers.

Have smashed the crap outta it with a mini sledge, preloading it properly and all so that it drops in and "impacts". Had friends try it also... on at least 2 cars.

My craftsman works, but not every time. I ended up stripping 2 out of 4 retaining screws while doing my brakes (fronts, one on each side), but got all 4 of the rears out just fine. Meh...

I couldn't make an impact driver work for me, all I've done for years since trying was hammer in a bit that's 1 size too big for the screw, then turn it off with a 1/4" ratchet socket

Once I get them out... they never go back in.

HOW TO USE AN IMPACT DRIVER...101
First, locate the bit in the screw, and give the tool a couple taps with a hammer to seat the bit in the screw. To loosen, rotate the handle of the tool counterclockwise while still maintaining pressure on the screw, the handle should turn 15-25 degrees (depending on the tool).....and now, with your BFH, give it one good smack. They are simple once you understand the operating principles behind them. In 8 years of working as a wrench, I've never had a screw head strip or a screw not come out by the second hammer blow. I have twisted the heads of screws before, but thats the fault of the screw, not the tool, the heads were still perfect......just separated from the rest of the screw.
As far as new bits go, craftsman sells a set of 3 or 4 bits for $5 or so. The harbor freight ones bust all the time, and the drivers kinda sucks too.

not really what i had in mind. my driver is 1/2" drive anyway. and i actually twisted both phillips bits before i decided to drill em out. so i know the driver was working right, and yes, it was twising the correct direction.
and this doesnt look like its big enough to fit in the adaptor.
