Timing Belt Mileage
I am getting all of my tools together to change my timing belt. I have just under 105K miles on the engine. I opened the top cover and looked at the belt and it looks fine. not dry or cracked at all. but since its reccomended at 105K, im changing it.
2 things I am wondering:
1.) When does the belt usually break? Im changing it soon so i wont wait. Im just checking to see if im still safe.
2.) Where is the best place to get them?
HondaAutomotiveparts.com has the kit(well meaning the same parts that are in the prostreetonline kit) for $128.29. Prostreet has the kit for $180. Here is the breakdown fro the 1999 EX civic 4dr:
$28.13 belt
$35.87 - tensioner
$4.03 - sring
$60.26 water pump
Would Hondaautomotiveparts.com be the best choice?
ALso, like on the accord that has 181ft/lbs holding the pulley on, do i need to go out and get a torque bar that will go up that highto put it back on?
