Throwout bearing or what?
Ok im really pissed right now, just finished installing my brand new itr transmission from acura. Everything was done correctly, ive done plenty of tranny swaps before. Well drove it today and it was fine then tonight when I PUSH DOWN on the clutch pedal there is a clonking noise in there. Not grinding, sounds like something is hitting. Brand new oem itr throwout bearing. Shifts fine, goes into gear fine, except when I push down on the clutch pedal theres that noise and everyonce in awhile the pedal feels lighter. HELP

greased fork where it goes on ball and where the slave cylinder ball meets fork.... looks like all I can do is pull the transmission and look in there.... but yeah all the threads i have seen where it is the throwout bearing is where theres a noise that goes away when u push in the clutch.... mines opposite...

the throwout bearing could also make noise only when you press down on the clutch. you might have gotten a defective bearing.

Re: Throwout bearing or what?
Usually when you have a throwout bearing problem you have noise while pushing the clutch down. The throwout bearing should not be spinning or have any type of load on it when the clutch pedal isnt being pressed. If you have noise when the clutch isnt being pressed it's usually the pilot bearing or something inside the transmission. The only other thing that may cause this "clunking noise" in my opinion would be something with the pressure plate. If you didnt use the proper bolts or torque the bolts that hold the pressure plate on properly they may have vibrated loose causing the pressure plate to move slightly when you press down the clutch pedal. Hope this helps you out.
